Magnum 4D Big Bet vs Small Bet Payouts and Coverage

By Ricky Lee · 12 September 2026

What is the difference between a Big bet and a Small bet in Magnum 4D?

A Magnum 4D Big bet enters your four-digit number into all five prize tiers: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Special and Consolation. A Small bet enters the same number into only the top three tiers, but pays a higher amount if it hits 1st, 2nd or 3rd. The number you pick is identical either way.

Magnum 4D uses a single four-digit number range, 0000 to 9999. You choose one number, then choose how that number is staked. That second choice is where Big and Small differ.

Big and Small are not different games and they are not different numbers. They are two ways of covering the same draw result. A Big bet spreads your stake across every prize position Magnum announces, all 23 winning numbers drawn across the five tiers. A Small bet concentrates the same stake on the three top positions only.

The structural tradeoff is coverage against payout size. Big gives you more winning positions to match. Small gives you a larger return on each of the three positions it does cover, and nothing at all if your number lands in Special or Consolation.

Neither option changes the draw itself. Magnum draws the same 23 numbers regardless of how any ticket is staked, and the bet type only determines which of those positions your ticket is eligible against and what it pays.

Which prize tiers does a Magnum 4D Big bet cover?

A Big bet covers all five Magnum 4D prize tiers: 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize, Special and Consolation. Special and Consolation each contain 10 numbers, so a Big bet is live against 23 winning numbers in total per draw. These are the only prize tiers that exist in Malaysian 4D.

Every Magnum 4D draw produces 23 winning numbers. There is one 1st Prize number, one 2nd Prize number, one 3rd Prize number, ten Special numbers and ten Consolation numbers. No other tier exists in Malaysian 4D.

A Big bet is checked against all 23 of those numbers. If your four digits appear in any position, in the exact order drawn, the ticket pays at the rate for that tier.

A Small bet is checked against three numbers only: 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The twenty Special and Consolation numbers are outside its scope. If your number is drawn in Special or Consolation and you staked Small, the ticket does not pay.

That difference in coverage is the entire reason the two bet types carry different payout schedules. The Small bet gives up two tiers and twenty winning positions, and the payout on the three remaining positions is set higher to reflect that. Big keeps all twenty-three positions in play at the lower published rates.

How much does a Magnum 4D Big bet pay on RM 1?

On a RM 1 Big bet, Magnum 4D pays RM 3,300 for 1st Prize, RM 2,000 for 2nd Prize and RM 500 for 3rd Prize. Special prizes pay RM 180 and Consolation prizes pay RM 60. Payouts scale with the stake amount placed on the ticket.

The standard Big bet payout table on a RM 1 stake is fixed and published by Magnum. First prize returns RM 3,300. Second prize returns RM 2,000. Third prize returns RM 500. Each of the ten Special numbers returns RM 180, and each of the ten Consolation numbers returns RM 60.

Those figures are per RM 1 of stake. A larger stake on the same number scales the return proportionally, subject to whatever limits apply at the outlet where the bet is placed.

Small bet payouts on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize are higher than the corresponding Big bet figures. That is the compensation for dropping Special and Consolation coverage entirely.

When you check a result on this site, the full prize breakdown for the draw is shown tier by tier. Matching your number against the correct tier is the first step in working out what a ticket is worth, but the final payout always depends on the bet type and stake printed on the ticket itself.

Why does a Small bet pay more per prize tier?

A Small bet pays more on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize because it covers only three of the 23 winning numbers in a Magnum 4D draw. Dropping the ten Special and ten Consolation positions removes twenty ways the ticket could return money, and the higher top-tier payouts reflect that narrower coverage.

The payout structure follows the coverage structure. A bet type that is eligible against fewer winning positions carries a higher return on the positions it keeps.

With a Big bet, the RM 180 and RM 60 returns on Special and Consolation are part of the value of the ticket. A Small bet removes those returns from the equation, so the value is redistributed into the three top tiers. The result is a ticket that either pays a larger amount or pays nothing, with no middle outcome.

This is a structural feature of how 4D staking works, not a signal about which option is better. Both bet types are priced against the same draw and the same 10,000 possible four-digit numbers. Neither improves the chance that any specific number is drawn, and no bet type changes the outcome of a draw.

When are Magnum 4D results published for Big and Small bets?

Magnum 4D draws take place on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, with results announced in the roughly 6:55 PM to 8:30 PM MYT window. Official publication usually falls around 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The same 23 winning numbers apply to both Big and Small tickets from that single draw.

Magnum runs three draws a week: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The draw and announcement window sits between about 6:55 PM and 8:30 PM Malaysian time, with the official result typically out around 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM on draw nights.

There is no separate draw for Big and Small. One draw produces one set of 23 numbers, and every ticket for that draw is settled against it according to its bet type. Big tickets are checked against all five tiers. Small tickets are checked against 1st, 2nd and 3rd only.

This page and the Magnum 4D result page update as soon as the official numbers are released and verified. The full tier breakdown is shown for each draw, so you can see the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize numbers alongside the ten Special and ten Consolation numbers.

Past draws are available through the historical results tool. Select a date and the complete prize breakdown for that draw loads, which is useful when checking an older ticket against the correct tier.

Do other Malaysian 4D operators use the same Big and Small structure?

Sports Toto, Da Ma Cai, Sabah 4D, Sandakan, Cash Sweep, 8Lucky and Perdana 4D are separately licensed operators, each running its own draw with its own winning numbers. Magnum 4D results never carry over to any other operator, and each operator publishes its own prize structure and payout rates.

Magnum 4D is one of several government-licensed 4D operators in Malaysia. The others covered by this site are Sports Toto, Da Ma Cai, Sabah 4D, Sandakan, Cash Sweep, 8Lucky and Perdana 4D.

Each one is independently licensed and runs its own draw. A number drawn by Magnum has no bearing on what any other operator draws, and a Magnum ticket can only be settled against a Magnum result. Always check a ticket against the operator named on it.

The five prize tiers of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Special and Consolation are the standard tiers in Malaysian 4D. Payout rates and staking options are set by each operator individually, so the figures listed above apply to Magnum 4D and should not be assumed for any other brand.

4D Result Online is an independent results information service. We are not affiliated with Magnum or any other lottery operator. Results, payout figures and prize breakdowns are published for informational and entertainment purposes, and the operator's own official result is the final authority on any draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I place both a Big and a Small bet on the same Magnum 4D number?

Bet type is recorded per ticket at the outlet, so a Big stake and a Small stake on the same four digits are handled as separate entries with separate payout rates. Each is settled against the same draw result. Check the printed ticket, since the bet type and stake shown there determine what the entry pays.

What happens to a Small bet if my number is drawn in the Special category?

It does not pay. A Magnum 4D Small bet covers 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize only. The ten Special numbers and ten Consolation numbers fall outside its scope, so a Small ticket matching one of those twenty positions returns nothing. Only a Big bet is eligible against the Special and Consolation tiers.

How many winning numbers does Magnum 4D draw per session?

Twenty-three. Each Magnum 4D draw produces one 1st Prize number, one 2nd Prize number, one 3rd Prize number, ten Special numbers and ten Consolation numbers. A Big bet is checked against all twenty-three. A Small bet is checked against the top three only. These five tiers are the only prize tiers in Malaysian 4D.

Does choosing Big or Small change the odds of winning Magnum 4D?

No. The draw result is produced independently of how any ticket is staked. Big and Small determine which prize tiers a ticket is eligible against and what each match pays, nothing more. 4D Result Online publishes results for information and entertainment only and does not offer guidance on bet selection.

Where can I check a past Magnum 4D result by date?

The historical results tool on the Magnum 4D result page lets you select any past draw date and load the full prize breakdown for that draw, including all ten Special and ten Consolation numbers. That breakdown is what you match an older ticket against, using the bet type printed on the ticket.
